ArxCis-NV™ : Non-Volatile Memory Technology

The ArxCis-NV™ is a DDR4 NVDIMM, which delivers both performance and reliability to enterprise applications. This non-volatile memory module has been designed to be integrated into the new Intel Haswell/Broadwell platforms with legacy support for industry standard x86 servers via DDR3 DIMM sockets. Designed to preserve critical data in the event of a power or system failure, the ArxCis-NV™ module replaces both battery backed up (BBU) DIMMs and RAID cards. ArxCis-NV™ enables the host system to recover from a failure event with simplicity and ease.

As the industry strives to accelerate business applications with new technologies, Viking Technology’s ArxCis-NV™, can be integrated into standard server and storage architecture as the Fastest Storage Tier; far exceeding any SSD (SATA, SAS or PCIe) in terms of performance 12GBytes per second vs. 6Gbit SATA or SAS and more than double the speed of the fastest PCIe card. ArxCis-NV™ is a DDR4 JEDEC pin compatible ECC Registered DIMM, paired with an integrated SSD for data backup. ArxCis-NV™ continuously monitors voltage levels from the host system, so that in the event of a voltage drop, the SAVE function is automatically activated. Additionally, ArxCis-NV™ will perform SAVE & Restore from host initiated requests (both hardware & software). Backup power for the module is provided by supercapacitors, enabling the data to transfer into non-volatile flash


ArxCis-NV™, a non-volatile DIMM, can be utilized as the fastest tier of any storage appliance. Running at DDR4 speeds, yet have persistant or trusted status, means that the ArxCis-NV™ can be used as a write cache/buffer in a variety of enterprise workloads.

Data Security

Once ArxCis-NV™ saves the volatile DRAM content to flash, this critical data can reside securely for up to 10 years. This offers a substantially increased level of data security when compared to a BBU (Battery Back-Up) solution of 72 hours. Additionally, this data security comes with the added benefit of a significantly lower total cost of ownership.
