
The CompactFlash (CF) interface has become a standardized format by the CompactFlash Association. The CF card is a small, 50-pin, removable storage device with a PCMCIA ATA protocol interface to the host system. Originally, the CF card was designed for portable electronic devices but with its non volatile memory and its plug and play-ability the CF card has been used in a wide verity of application including replacing hard disk drives.
